From Panayiota Bakis:

Last weekend I was in New York for what should have been a celebration of life. Nourhan Sharif, my mentor/best friend/dance mommy, was to celebrate her son's first birthday. The blessing was to take place Saturday morning in her home. The fire started from a couple of candles. Those couple of candles destroyed her whole home. Everything is gone. We are all very lucky and blessed that nothing happened to Nourhan, her baby boy Shafiq, Vero and the guests. Unfortunately, Nourhan's two adorable cats didn't make it.

For those that don't know Nourhan Sharif, I will tell you. She is a wonderful and highly respected person in the dance community and beyond. She is an artist, dance educator and supporter of the arts. Nourhan Sharif, who has been in the business for 25+ years, has always used all her resources to organize many fundraiser dance events to help those in need. She is a very unselfish person and ALWAYS puts others first, whether it is for those that is less fortunate or especially for helping build confidence and strength in woman world wide. She is a great role model for both men and women.

Please, let's gather together and help a family rebuild their home with happy new memories. We are all lucky to have roofs over our heads, and times like this it's nice to show some love & support in any way possible. For those that cannot afford to help, please don't feel bad. Even prayers are big help and showing love or even a simple 'Hello, your family is in my prayers/thoughts'. Shafiq was born on Valentines day :) He is a year old now. On February 14, 2011, there was celebration of life and love. Celebration of baby Shafiq, celebration and gratefulness for being alive.

If you have or maybe know someone that has gently used things for little boys under 5 please email me. I can arrange to have it picked up at your convenience or you can drop it off at my boutique in Waltham. You can also shop Sharifwear to show some support. Nourhan Sharif is the creator, designer and owner of Sharifwear. To learn more about Nourhan Sharif please visit her websites and read up on her accomplishments and dedication to the arts www.nourhansharif.com and www.egyptianacademy.com.

Every little bit counts. Please keep the Sharif family in your daily prayers. God Bless.
